UPDATE 15 May 2014:
We are happy to announce that the beta version of the SmartPlane app for Android is now available on the Google Play store!

Note: please check if your SmartPlane packaging has the Google Play store logo. If it does not, then you have an older batch. But don't worry, it will still work with Android! You will need to find a friend with an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch and perform the "first flight setup" procedure. This is a one-time process and takes only 2-3 minutes. After that you can fly your SmartPlane with the Android app at any time.

If your SmartPlane packaging has the Google Play store logo, or if you've flown it with the iOS app before, then this setup is not needed.

Hello! Yes it is almost done and will be released within the next week or two.
Hi, I download the app on my new HTC M8. The app doesn't seem to find the plane. Should it work, or is the app still in a beta phase?
Hi Reinoud. The app is in beta but it works.

Does your SmartPlane packaging have a Google Play store logo on it near the App Store logo? If it does not, then you have an older batch of SmartPlane. But don't worry, it will still work with Android! You will need to find a friend with an iPhone/iPad to perform the "first flight setup" procedure. This is only needed the first time, and takes 2-3 min. After that you can fly the SmartPlane with your own phone at any time.

If your SmartPlane packaging already has the Google Play store logo, or you've flown it before (with iOS app), then you don't need to perform this setup.

Hi Prashant. Thnx for the quick reply!
Hi Prashant. Wondering if you changed the plane. I order one in December, it flew effortlessly. The one I just orderd, hardly changes altitude when i give full throttle and steers much harder. It feels heaver, too. But that might be my imagination :-).

I still can't connect it with my android app, sadly. Any tips on that? I uploaded the software through an iphone, but my android app doesn't connect and keeps searching for the plane.

Best and thanks.
Reinoud
Update: Android app worked and flew perfectly. I think it must have had something to do with 2 mobile phones and their bluetooth connection. Both were on and i think one must have been interfering.

Thanks
Hi Reinoud,

Good to hear it works now! Only one phone can be connected to the SmartPlane at a time.

We have not made any changes to the SmartPlane hardware. There could be some small variation between the planes in terms of balance, but that's part of the fun of learning to fly your plane! Of course if you're completely unsatisfied, our standard warranty offers repair, replacement or refund.
I am using Nokia X and Nokia XL mobiles with installed Bluetooth 4.0 Smart Tech.
It runs all Android Apps but its not installing Smartplane app from Google Play Store because Google Play Store dont open on Nokia mobiles.

Kindly guide me, I really want this app and Plane.
Hi Praveen,

According to http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_xl-6148.php the Nokia XL (and X) only have Bluetooth 3.0 and don't have Bluetooth 4.0 support. Are you sure yours does?

How do you normally install Android apps on your phone, if it cannot access the Google Play store?
