broke one of the hairlike rudder wires

Anonymous 9 years ago updated by Ulrich Ditschler 9 years ago 1
gently bending the rudder and fin because it got distorted in a crash, one of the tiny tiny hairlike wires broke.  now the rudder doesn't work, and the plane does turn.  how do i fix that?  it's so tiny, i don't think i can get a soldering iron to it, and the heat would melt the foam etc.  is there a conductive glue or something that i could blob on there?
Hi, you can actually try to solder it. You of course have to be careful with the foam. Try to lift the wires from the foam a little bit. Should be enough to protect the foam. Otherwise just put some thick paper inbetween. The wire itself is a coated copper wire. While soldering the lacquer/varnish is removed by the heat of the soldering iron. This is great because it is need to actually make a stable contact.
Let me know if it worked. Ulrich
