Lastly, the question is that everyone will want to know, is an app update coming that will fix the problem, or should we be pursuing a refund?

Same issue, sadly your price point is way above a throw away item, but I just get searching. Tried all the options and still just jumps to and from "searching".  If I set the iphone flat on a desk and don't tilt it seems to stay connected longer.
